I have been actively writing since my youth. I wrote my first book, about songwriting, before there was an internet to sell it on. I sold it through classified ads in music magazines. Made a few hundred dollars and was hooked!
Next, in 1999 while working a programming gig, I wrote an article about how to optimize database usage. A leading computer magazine of the time snapped it up. A week after it was published, I was contacted by a literary agency. Thanks to that connection I went on to write over 30 computer books as well as articles and other material for numerous big companies including IBM and Microsoft.
The gross sales of my computer books are over $1,000,000.
When Kindle and other online self-publishing took hold, I wrote several books in both my own name and using pen names. I published about 40 books in a variety of non-fiction and fiction categories. In 2019 I entered the low content market. Combining my programming and publishing skills I created Puzzle Book Mastery which opened the door for thousands of people to become published.
Career:
Worked in bookstores. From that got a sales job at a major publishing house in New York. Set new sales records, quickly becoming a rising star.
Promoted to a sales manager with up to 25 sales people reporting to me. With the team, set new sales records unseen in the industry. Become a mini-star. Got headhunted by another major publisher to grow their sales department.
While working there I had to struggle with their IT department to produce usable sales reports. This was taking too long. So I programmed them myself in Excel using VBA (a programming language). Fell in love with programming.
Switched careers to IT. At this point my unique blend of business and development skills put me in high demand.
For the next 20 years worked full time or as a contractor for many large companies, such as Master Card, Texaco, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Swiss Re, Entergy, KLM Airlines, Dannon, Pfizer, RSM and more.
Besides development I also managed projects, led development teams, and ran training.
