Man Trucks and Santana put on a hell of a show here in Hollywood, FL too. Derek is on another level with his slide guitar. Gods gift.

AHHHH!!!!!!!!!! the slide master.... In my opinion, for what its worth...... Derek is way more soulful than Ry Cooder.... Gotta love this stuff!!!! Sorry Duane....

Bottabeeta, Nice to be able to debate it though, huh? Yea, I've got Live at the Fillmore East on CD, Yep, I've heard that CD front to back. They were/are each good in their own way. I never heard Duane live just recordings. You know? Maybe God gave us Duane's soul back as Derek. Maybe Duane asked God to be able to go back and play blues, and God obliged by placing Duane's soul in Derek. You may say that's crazy, but it is eery the similarities. God works in mysterious ways.

Two nights ago in Tampa, Florida. I went to the show without a ticket and came across a scalper. We got talking and then he is like "I like your attitude, man. You have great attitude, blah, blah" and then he takes away the ticket he just sold me and gave me a second row ticket, dead center for the same price! It was like being in the same room with Santana and Mr. Trucks. They played three songs together and each time Santana would hug Derek. Derek was very grateful to be there. Me, too.

New Mexico Sunset, I think you have a good point... Dereck certainly is talented at executing difficult pentatonic scalesHowever... I think Duane was equally talented or perhaps greater, and Duane played the blues. Most of Truck's material delves in jazz and classical scales more than blues which doesnt mean he's better or worse in my opinion, just different. Also, listen to In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, with Duane in the band. |
