Lesson to you...the first cowboys were black slaves that took care of the masters horses....hence the term BOY...in modern times, the meaning has been hidden by American culture showing cowboys as BONANZA OF MODERN TIMES .....Knowledge is an amazing thing.

This is not a hymn it is a spiritual....an invention of slavery....quite a difference from a hymn.

It has a two part meaning....one spiritual...Isaiah 2:4.... Although the ending of slavery escalated into the civil war, the slaves didnt start this, the other part is the reality of slavery and the desire to meet at night in secret to discuss the options of escaping.
