I stands to reason that DU dust wouldn't be a good thing to be around. But neither is the fallout from a lot of modern weapons. DU was used because it worked. The 30mm stuff went through soviet era armor like a hot knife through butter. If I had to fight, I'd sure as hell want it. BTW, I wonder if the Soviets would use it? Nahhh, I'm sure they're too environmentally aware to use something so nasty.

I'm not sure about what alternatives their are but I would prefer that a tank in front of me get knocked out by a DU round than having the tank fuck up my shit and maybe live another 20yrs then die of cancer.Bottom line is Sr. Military leaders don't give a shit about the 20y/o on the ground only there career advancement and power.Remember, agent orange, the pentagon papers.

Why wouldn't people be exposed if they are in the environment where this stuff has been used?An A-10 will fire about 120 30mm du rounds at a single tank. This takes about 1.5-2 seconds. Each 30mm du penetrator weighs what, about 280 grams, I think? So you have about60-70 pounds of the stuff being fired in a single attack. When the stuff strikes, it explodes into an incendiary dust. A lot of it will be left over. Why wouldn't people be breathing it in if they happen to live there?

Certain people would probably stand to gain by convincing people that du ammo is too dangerous to be used (other tyhan the people directly affected by the du ammo). A simple political agenda would be to simply convince people to vote for one political group, or support one political lobby instead of another. However, why wouldn't unborn children suffer if their mothers are full of alpha and beta particles? What's so hard to believe about it?
